Alton Towers Scarefest
The longest scare season in the UK, and the big coasters running after dark.
Scarefest opens in late September and runs to the start of November, making it the longest scare season in the country. The draw is twofold: a set of ticketed scare mazes, and the resort's headline rides — The Smiler, Nemesis Reborn and Wicker Man — operating in the dark.
Daytime is family Halloween; the mazes and the atmosphere sharpen considerably once the light goes. Maze tickets are bought separately from park entry.
