The old Halloween
The first jack-o’-lanterns were carved from turnips, swedes and mangelwurzels in Ireland, Scotland and the West Country — and they were far more frightening than anything cut from a pumpkin. That is why our lantern is purple on top. Halloween is older, stranger and more British than you think.
For organisers
Scare mazes, ghost walks, pumpkin trails, haunted houses — listing is free, and we’ll rate it on the Fear Scale so the right people find you.
